This place is kind of weird, the dining area is really nice, waiter is in a fancier outfit, menu is well put together (limited) but then that is where things kind of swerve from 'fine dining' to 'good' or 'ok' dining... Personally, I've never ate a $200 meal (excluding drinks) to 90s pop music... Until now. It kind of ruined the atmosphere that (I think) the owner was trying to present. I also thought it odd that even though the place wasn't hopping (earlier in the day), the service was a bit slow, may chalk that up to end of season? I don't know, though I must admit, the food was pretty darn good.
We were enticed by the outdoor seating. The food was ridiculously expensive for very subpar meals. Halibut tacos were flavorless. American cheese was used. No sides for $19. The kids chicken strips were 3 anorexic strips the size of my 7-yr old's fingers. There is a reason it wasn't crowded.
Great atmosphere and service! The main reason for 5 stars was the food though! French dip flavor was unlike any I have ever had before and the rockfish tacos were delightful! Highly recommend!
Well it wasn't horrible but not memorable. Ordered fish and chips and the burger. Fish was cold but fries were good, crispy and hot. Burger was just a burger. Waiter was very distracted with something. He never refilled our drinks or checked on us.
Nice, cozy atmosphere sitting at the old wood bar and quiet too! The bartender/manager was very friendly. I highly recommend the crab legs and baked potatoes.
I would return!
Their seafood chowder was among the top 2 i have ever had in the last 30 years!
Dirty fries were amazing, Moscow mules were delish, and the best steak in town. Our server Michael is the absolute best, we keep going back and it’s always totally worth it. 10 out of 10 recommend!!
Had high expectations based on menu descriptions. We decided to have lighter fare to share for dinner and went with the Beet salad, Caesar Salad, Calamari, and Pork Belly Fries. Everything was just mediocre. Maybe actual dinner items would've been better? Beautiful restaurant with woodwork, exposed beams, and great lighting for a romantic evening. Fairly loud Top 40 music didn't suit environment.
It took a long time for the staff to notice that we were even there. Once they finally noticed us, they told us to sit anywhere we liked. We sat down outside and it took another 10 minutes for them to come and welcome us. The Waitress was very short with us and asked one out of the three of us what we wanted to drink and then assumed it was the same for all of us. Once she came back, she handed us menus and brought dirty glasses with brown sticky goo on them. We paid for the soft drink that was ordered and left.
We came to eat a nice seafood dinner and boy were we disappointed! The clam chowder tasted like evaporated milk! The halibut fish & chips was very burnt, greasy & WAY over-seasoned. The story was the same with the calamari, not to mention the portion size vs cost was ridiculous!Better find a cook that:A) knows how to cook basic seafood items and B) knows when to change their grease. Good luck.
Ike was a friendly great waiter and the food was good. Nothing on the menu that made me say I wanted to return to try next.
Great service and very good atmosphere - a lot of wood and paintings on a wall. I had halibut Sami and it was delicious with a pina cota dessert. Most of all I enjoyed the service - super natural and friendly without trying too hard
Best seafood chowder I've eaten, and freshly made caesar salad was a delight. Presentation was beautiful. Waiter was attentive and pleasant. Couldn't ask for more.
Ok first off, this patio is amazing. Best one in seward. The food was amazing, dirty fries were off the charts. Me and a friend had a special request. We wanted the rib eye with the beet salad which was a combination of two menu items and they were more then accommodating. The food on it's own was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the best I've had on this trip. But hands down the best part of our experience was our server Michael. He was top notch and has been our server a few times and is one of the main components to why I keep coming back for a Moscow mule on the patio.
What a wonderful place to eat. Had the best time eith our waitress. Would differently go back.
If only the actual food was as good as the photos look!! I really want to like this place and I keep trying, but each time it's disappointing. The patio and interior is great, the staff is very nice, but the food is bland and uninspired. The worst was the Beef Vindaloo. It was a plate of flavorless beef chunks on white rice. No other ingredients, no flavor, not even curry. It was like eating microwaved left overs for over $20. There is so much potential and opportunity here but the execution leaves alot to be desired. The almost empty restaurant on a Saturday night when the Cookery and other restaurants are closed, should hopefully be an indicator to the owners there is plenty of room for improvement.
You are paying for the view at this place. The food was on the expensive side for the portion size, halibut ($33) and salmon ($27). The asparagus was not fully cooked. The boys enjoyed their fish and chips ($20). Fantastic view from the outside eating area.
We took a drive down Seward Hwy so we could visit Seward and take in some sites. Food is definitely part of the experience and we were not disappointed with Sea Salt Alaskan Grill & Bar. They had just opened for the season so we were the only group in the dining floor. It felt like we had rented out the place, it was excellent. The waitress was very personable and attentive. We ordered an appetizer and main courses. The fried calamari appetizer was excellent and set the mood for the seafood main course. Following that a halibut burger and clam chowder arrived. Both were excellent and seasoned very well. I would recommend Sea Salt as a stop on your list for Seward.
I had the stuffed halibut and my daughter had the crab cakes. Both were excellent. As an appetizer we had the dirty fries absolutely amazing. I will be back.
I was a little worried when we walked in, as there was no one else there when we arrived. The staff was friendly, the decor was very well done, beautiful and clean with simple table settings and dark wood. The menu, although limited, was delicious! One of the specials was a New York strip with veggies & garlic mashed potatoes and it was by far the best steak I have ever had. I asked for medium and it was perfect! I asked to sub the garlic mashed potatoes for double veggies and they had no issue with it. My husband, son, and daughter all had burgers and we're very pleased with them. Great choice in mixed beverages, as well as local beer & wine. The prices were a bit high but I would still recommend as the service was great and the food delicious.
Possibly the worst service I’ve ever experienced.
The dirty fries and the charcuterie board were both delicious. Dirty fries made with crispy pork belly, peppercini, goat cheese is my favorite. The chowder is amazing and served with made to order Alaskan fried bread. The ribeye was just the way I like it, coated with butter and cooked to perfection.
My friend Stacy told me to come in and try the chowder, saying it was the best in town. My wife and I went in and she was right! So good! We also got the Salmon roll and the French Dip. So yummy! A must stop place to eat while in Seward.
Went here for just for apps and desserts around 8:45, realized they were closing at 9, and left so we would not be “those people” (who come in 15 mins before closing). Kyle (the Manager) actually chased us down making it known he was happy to serve us! The inside was gorgeous and inviting with new floors and high ceilings - you can tell they just finished a recent renovation. A large outdoor patio was getting set up for the season, this will definitely be the place to be! Ordered the Halibut and Salmon skewers, and they were perfect! Tried all 3 desserts, and was not disappointed! We will definitely be back, I just wish we were hungry for a main dish - they looked delicious!
In trying to decide where some of the best food to be had in Seward was, I was told by Stacy to make my way over to Seasalt. And I couldn’t have been happier with that recommendation! The waitstaff were wonderful and always happy to make sure that my party was taken care of. The pork belly sliders were delicious and the Baked Alaska was to die for! If you’re in Seward, make sire Seasalt is on your list of dining options.
Wonderful food and atmosphere!! Clam chowder is out of this world!!! Calamari is fresh and tender! Must stop in Seward! Better than the Cookery for the price!! Portions are big!!!
I went into the Seasalt Grill and I was greeted by a polite waiter named Josiah. When I went in, I saw that there are hardwood floors, unlike what I saw on the reviews, and I was told the the establishment is under new management. I had their chicken noodle soup special and it was unlike any chicken noodle soup I’ve ever tasted in my life. This chicken noodle soup has potatoes chopped into smaller pieces, perfect for a cup sized portion, and mushrooms, which bring more flavor into the soup. Their grilled cheese sandwiches were good too, and after I finished eating, I told Josiah that the establishment should put this soup permanently on their menu. Above all my visit there is a visit I’ll never forget.
We came in last month with 5 hangry young kids and 4 hungry adults. Seasalt did not disappoint! The kids devoured the macaroni and cheese, they enjoyed it so much that we had to order more! The pork belly and brisket sandwiches were delicious and our friends raved about their fish! We had the opportunity to meet and thank the chef as well! Looking forward to coming back soon!
Very good chowder and beautiful location! Was referred to this restaurant by Stacey. Will definitely be back!
one of the few places in town with outside seating! VERY friendly staff, my salad and beer were good and seemed fairly priced with other places in town.
Steak was 1/3 fat and very tough. Only two couples at dinner hour on a Friday night. That should tell ya something there.
Very accommodating and genuinely care about their customers. We came into town for vacation. I called ahead, and they handed me over to the chef so we could discuss food allergies and how they can accommodate us. When we arrived, the chef (his name is Mike) came out and discussed the food options for our particular allergies. We got the fish tacos. They were delicious and safe for our needs.Toward the end of the meal, Chef Mike came back out to check and make sure everyone was feeling well. Definitely happy with our experience and highly recommend.
not very good food prime rib had no seasoning fish was thick breading
Great food Good service Some of the best kalamari I've had
Bison burger was very good. Nice and moist. The clam chowder is delicious served with a pipping hot bread. Great Alaskan beer selection. Our server Sheena was a great server and very attentive.
Visiting from Michigan. Today my daughter & I ordered salmon for $27 ea & my wife ordered a well-done cheese burger. We waited a long time for our food. While we were waiting, the manager asked how everything was, & I told him we were waiting for our food. He said he would check with us later. He did not.Salmon portion was small and it had no taste. My daughter could not eat hers. My wife said her hamburger was very good.Service was very slow and I had to ask for napkins. When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her her the salmon was dry & tasteless. She asked me how I would cook it. I told her it did not taste fresh, and she said they get it fresh daily. She said she would tell the cook, but I doubt that. No offer to make it right. If I was to do it over I would have sent the 2 Salmon orders back and replace it with nothing.Other comments on the salmon say it was frozen. Probably, but this was much much worse than that.
Best Fish Tacos that I have ever had! There halibut fish tacos were amazing! I almost ordered seconds. I ordered a drink, not sure what it was called but it was described as a long island Iced tea and unfortunately it was poorly made even for a drink that was not topshelf. I should have stuck with there wine. There Oysters were mediocre and smaller compared to a couple other restaurants within the same area. Waiter somewhat friendly and there restrooms were somewhat dirty.
Fabulous real seafood with crunchy vegetables.
The meals were overpriced, the salad was not fresh, the fries were soggy, there was almost no fish in the fish n chips and the pieces included felt frozen. The only star was because of the staff; they were kind, helpful and friendly. Too bad that a place with so much potential is serving such poor meals.
Fantastic tacos & local beer
Was a bit skeptical from the mixed reviews on here but this place was great! Everything we had was good and the one waiter we had last night was super kind and attentive (don't remember his name but he was From Las Vegas). They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating for social distancing.
This restaurant holds the unique distinction as the first place in my entire life I've ever sent back a plate of food. Our fish was dry and overcooked, and some of their ingredients are definitely canned (pineapple especially we noted). Location is great if you are just looking for a place on the water to get a drink.
the service was so bad, one waitress is so rude.. when we got there, there was a sign that says”please wait to be seated” so were standing at the door, and this waitress came out didnt approach us, and said oh you can sit wherever you want, so we did. We are waiting at the table for about 10mins, and nobody even approach us even to just give a menu. and there at the corner two waitresses was just talking.. so annoying we drove for 3hours and were hungry, my toddler was hungry.. so much for a customer service.
The only reason this gets one star is the waitress who served us. The food was mostly frozen seafood. The Clamari definitely frozen and had little or no taste. The man who owns this restaurant owns others that are successful in the area so I don't know what the challenge is on this venture. I wouldn't recommend it to something I didn't like much less someone I didn't know looking for a good dining experience in Seward. 30+$ per plate for frozen entree just is insane.
We went here for dessert. The blueberry chunk cheesecake was amazing! It was a big portion (well worth the price), but wasn't overly sweet or rich. Plus, they used fresh blueberries instead of canned. Our waiter was also very friendly.
Food was super delicious (I got the clam chowder, my husband got the bison burger with bacon). Service was great, fast and friendly.
Had the beet salad and halibut. Both were excellent. A bit pricey...but it's Alaska.
This was our first time at this restaurant. We walked inside and one of the staff members said they were short handed and to sit wherever we would like. So we did. After waiting several minutes, I walked back up front to see if we could look at the menus while we wait. The waiter very sternly said they would bring them to us and refused to give me a menu to look at. We decided to leave and as we approached the waiter to let them know we were leaving, he would not acknowledge us. I understand being short staffed and we would have been patient, but these guys were very rude! Will never go there again.
The food and service were great! But, I was the only one there, so it was too quiet!
